The Merlo Way

To generations of coffee drinkers, the Merlo family's exquisite brew from their 1958 Italian Espresso machine caused a revolution in Queensland. No longer content to sip heavily manufactured coffee, the first commercial machine together with the Merlo's love of fine coffee introduced Queenslanders to a world of velvet rich, smooth tastes.

The first Bar Merlo was was established in Queen Street, Brisbane in 1992 and with such great success, three years later, the Merlo Coffee Factory (Torrefazione - Italian coffee roasting house) was opened in Fortitude Valley.

Merlo Coffee is now available for you to prepare at home. Experiment with their special blends of fresh roasted international beans. Each variety has its own personality and flavour.

private blend

The classic four-continent, six-bean Private Blend has a distinctively rich, velvety texture. The blend is equally suitable for plunger, drip filter, perculator or espresso style coffee. Terrific white coffe, excellent for plunger.

espresso blend

Merlo Espresso Blend is a full-bodied Italian style coffee, dark-roasting to bring out the full flavour of the beans. Try this blend served as a traditional espresso (short black). Flavoursome as both black or white, suitable for all methods of extraction.

arriba arriba

Literally translated as "up up" this beautifully rounded South American blend combines the finest beans from Colombia, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Each cup of Arriba Arriba delivers soft, medium body with a smooth aftertaste. Magnificent breakfast coffee.

riviera

This popualar blend balances the power of espresso with the delicate flavours of Kenyan and Colombian beans to deliver a rich caramel-sweet coffee with full body and good depth. Ideal for short or long black.

merlo decaf

Defacceinated using the chemical-free Swiss Water Method, Merlo Decaf is a full flavoured Colombian blend which rates as one of the world's great coffees. 97% caffeine free.

* Whole beans will retain excellent flavour for up to six weeks if stored correctly. As soon as coffee is ground it begins to deteriorate. So storage in an airtight container such as the Merlo Coffee tin will retain its freshness for at least two weeks.

*Since moisture, heat or light are the enemies of fresh roasted coffee beans, the best place to keep them is in a frost free freezer or refrigerator.
